ID Software was formed in the state of Texas back in 1991, and that means this year is their 20th Anniversary. In the two decades they have made such great classics as Commander Keen, Wolfenstein, Quake, Rage and of course DOOM!
Hard to believe it was 1993 when this game first came to our homes on a DOS format. It quickly set the standard for the class of FPS (First Person Shooter) games and had players both excited from the thrill of 3D looking graphics, and also on the edge of their seats, jumping as creatures came at the screen.
The story is a simple game of survival as you play an unnamed marine who is fighting off creatures on the planet of Mars. Starting off with only your fists, and a hand gun you browse about picking up armour, shields, ammo and additional weapons like that of chainsaws.
As most of us are no longer running a DOS system, or have the old Floppy disks kicking about, it is great that the classic is available on the APPLE iOS system. While this game has been available on the touch and iPhone for a bit, it was updated on the 4th of this month. The updates include:
- bug fixes
- Retina support
- iPad / iPad 2 support
You may have played this cult game on a DOS system, SNES, Jaguar and more, but have you ever played it on an iPad, or paid this little for the game?
