Qualcomm Snapdragon S3

Is that a gaming console in your pocket...

Qualcomm the company that has been focused on changing and advancing the mobile phone technology is still driving forward.  First by headlining the quality of signal with CDMA (Code Divisional Multiple Access), and then building their own phones with options that were ahead of the game in a world once owned by only Motorola and Nokia.

Over the next decade Qualcomm proved they had the ability to not only capture but run with a piece of the mobile phone pie. Originally used as a way to have conversation with family and friends, the phone has developed into a pocket computer. First to be added was the ability to have contacts, then calendars, and slowly but surely most all things you can do on your computer at home, you can now do on your phone in some form or another.

The market is further changing with players like Google, APPLE and Microsoft using their Android, iOS and Windows Mobile software along with thousands of developers to bring games to your phone. Now instead of having to own a phone, and have a gaming console at home, Qualcomm has developed a chip powerful enough to combine both options together… and less then the size of a quarter.

Snapdragon S3 is the means which allows the phone owner (gamer) to take their hobby or passion from a 3-4″ screen to the big screen TV. This chip has GPS, 3G, Web browsing capability and so much more all packaged into one. Will this technology replace the large boxes we have at home? Maybe not today, but they certainly give us another option in a world that is always looking for the next amazing leap into the gaming future.
